Eastwood and Andress have proven to be the best teams in El Paso area Class 5A boys basketball this season. 

On Tuesday night, the two teams meet in a Class 5A regional quarterfinalat 7 p.m. at Bel Air High School with a trip to the Region I-5A tournament on the line. The regional tournament will begin Friday in Snyder. The winner of the regional tournament advances to the UIL State Tournament in in San Antonio. 

How the teams got to the regional quarters
Andress won the District 1-5A title, then defeated Ysleta and Lubbock Monterey in the first two playoff games. In both playoff wins, Andress had to rally from behind to win. The Eagles trailed Ysleta at halftime and against Lubbock Monterey, the Eagles scored the final 10 points of the game to win, 48-46. 

Eastwood won the District 2-5A championship, then defeated Burges and Amarillo Palo Duro in the playoffs. In the win against Palo Duro, the Troopers overcame a 20-8 deficit and held the Dons scoreless for the final 4 and 1/2 minutes to secure the win. 

Forbes, Morales have history in playoffs
Andress coach Jim Forbes and Eastwood coach Peter Morales are two of the best coaches in the city. Forbes has coached two teams to the Final Four, Andress and Riverside, and while at Andress, he has coached the team to the regional tournament five times, including two regional finals. 

Morales coached Bowie to the regional tournament and also helped coach Coronado to the regional quarterfinals. 

Key players
The Eagles have two of the best guards in the city in Devonte Owens and Christian Villegas. Owens was critical in the comeback wins against Ysleta and Lubbock Monterey and is the team's leader. Villegas is a crafty guard with a nose for the basketball. Isaac Padilla, Demontre Jones and Cameron Smith are also key for Andress.
